Razors replaced the fingers of the man before me. His eyes - sockets - as dark as the hound beside him. His hat was an unusual thing compared to his red, burned features. "Speeeeeak in riddles. Speak in rhyyyyymes. Listen, heeeeeathen. Listen closelyyyyyy..."
The dog was barking. Louder and louder. I could not hear the man's words. His words...were the barks. The man and the beast became one. His face, so close...
If not for the Rain Man's illusions, I would be unprepared for this encounter. The Beastman's glare sunk into my mind. I Phased - to nowhere; to anywhere; to somewhere; to everywhere - and escaped, just barely.
This Phaser - it controls Space and Time. It can move anyone and anything. And so, with it I summoned fire. Since ancient times, only Man has been able to face fire with courage. The Beastman wailed, burning to a crisp. Then he disappeared - reappearing behind me. I bathed myself in flames. He could no longer get to me. He left, running and screaming!
For a moment, I smiled with joy. Was I becoming just like them - finding bliss in torment? The scythes reached beyond the fire, taking my face...
And I awoke.
Bless me, Raven Queen.

Dear Diary: My Fourth Log / Cry for the world, it cries for you.
6, O.c.t.o.b.e.r 2005
The bell chimed as I walked in. The man I met before still donned his raincoat but served beer as if in uniform. I rejected his offer.
"It's much harder to Phase in dreams, you know." My speech was slurred - I was already drunk.
The Rain Man nodded. "It's supposed to be. These realms are owned by higher forces. Come on, Prince. You shouldn't look so glum."
My frown dropped once more. "What is this place, exactly?"
"It's most commonly known as the Boulevard of Broken Dreams."
"Isn't that a song?"
He shook his head. "It wasn't at first. This place can be anything: a bar, a speakeasy, a saloon, a tavern... Anything that floats your boat, really. What's important is what you see - not what you find. An answer can be false, you know. How you obtained the answer - there lies the truth!" He was drying the mugs now. They weren't dirty in the first place. "I'm glad."
"About what?"
"You're mastering some of its powers. This way, you can complete your destiny."
"Why should I?" My frown turned into a line. A scowl starts hurting after a time. "You're not who I thought you were. Why should I stop the F.E.A.R.S.?"
He was at the door in a moment, without any movement. "Those you wish to repay also want this. They just don't believe in you humans enough to get their own scions. Plus, you are unique in your own right. You're human for now. That doesn't mean you can't be something greater. They chose you, after all."
With that, he left... A phantom...

Dear Diary: My Third Log / Time reaches never, always reaches now.
15, S.e.p.t.e.m.b.e.r 2005
I walked down the misty street. I had Phased enough for a time. This new watch of mine, a gift from the box, did not allow me to enjoy a stroll with its unique power. The mist curled and changed. I felt a coldness in the air. The wind whispered to me, "Do not seek to unnerve us, friend. We are not your enemies."
The fog lifted. The store I wished to enter had been levelled to the ground. My breath turned into rust. The sky was red as blood. A poster was upon the ground, faded and torn from many years of negligence. The year was 2011. The poster said, "Ashes to ashes, dust to dust. Dust thou art, and unto dust thou shalt return."
The mist enveloped me. I lay floating upon a black sea. The ringing of bells filled my ears. "Even time cannot kill mortality for time itself is mortal." Lightning struck the water. With it, I dispersed.
I finally arrived at the right store. Within, music granted me a hint to my condition. The rainy street now made sense.
'Don't know where it goes but it's home to me and I walk alone...'
Bless me, Raven Queen.

Dear Diary: My Second Log / To fade or not to fade, whistle through the rain.
25, A.u.g.u.s.t 2005
As I slept, the cracks did creep. They shattered my walls, my roof, my home. They crept into my mind and altered my fantasies.
I entered a room. Pitch black ran for miles; white lightning struck the ground around me. I entered the door ahead. Now it was white running to oblivion. Black lightning seared my aura. The door ahead beckoned me further. Millions of halls lay before me, all of them leading to nothingness. I about-faced. The world shattered.
In the midst of falling shards of diamond, I met the dissolving statue. It had a box in its hands. Such terror and evil leaked from the object that I nearly passed out. I kept walking forward. The statue cried tears of blood but shattered under my gaze. I took the box only to find myself being pulled in every direction. A hand grabbed my arm and pull me away.
Rain fell in volumes. A world made of an empty street yet beyond mortal comprehension - here I found my savior. "You shall find your way, Prince. Open the box. Fight those that ignore us and take away our hard work. We have the same enemy, you and I. Remind them. We'll meet again."
The bladed pendulum swung to and fro in the blackness of my mind. Tick, tock. Tick, tock. I awoke to the wall in front of me. The rounded pendulum swung. Tick, tock. Tick, tock. Time is ephemeral. The box was material. I held it in my hands and opened it once more...
Bless me, Raven Queen.

Dear Diary: My First Log / Fly me to heaven, my letters to the future.
4, A.u.g.u.s.t 2005
3, M.a.r.c.h 1992 is when it happened. I was taken by eyes and hands of creatures of the dark. Only did many years pass before I remembered them. All I could remember were the nightmares. Every night, every fear, horror, and terror RUSHING at me...over and over again...
But they saved me. The White Light could no longer control my destiny. And yet, the blackness that has replaced my dreams all these years tells me that I have NO destiny now. No destiny...
Or so I believed...
I write this now because I have found evidence of one of these so-called F.E.A.R.S. the static told me about. What role am I to play? The Raven knocked on my door last night. A letter lay in his place.
The Great Game unnerves us. We shall send one of them after you. Fight now. Prove your worth. Pay your debt.
Yes, to pay my debt... I owe them much...
Bless me, Raven Queen.
